Mobile Adventure Walks was recently mentioned in TNW as an example of using gamification to help brands structure their marketing campaigns.
With the goal of creating an engaging game, we've also created a platform where brands can associate the themselves with a healthy experience, increase awareness, and generate a buzz paired with an offer. It's an easy way to increase loyalty, and a connection to a brand in a new and memorable way.
Mobile Adventure Walks appeals to individuals, groups, and families because the app makes walking fun by asking questions at preset locations in conjunction with an unknown path ahead. The mobile app allows businesses and organizations to raise brand awareness while engaging customers through its platform, including: hotels, retail businesses, cities, non-profits and physician clinics. See detailed examples below.

Mobile Adventure Walks brand platform has been implemented in a variety of settings:
Hotels:
- The Monterey Marriott created an Adventure Walk for their Global Sales Meeting attendees through the historic district of Monterey. The app and platform were used to provide an offer at a restaurant within the hotel; to everyone who correctly guessed all of the questions - driving traffic into the Bar & Grill.
- During an event we created and hosted, The Chocolate Adventure, participants tasted, explored, and navigated through multiple chocolate shops. Stops included Scharffen Berger, Recchiuti, Fog City News, Leonidas, Teuscher, and Ghiardelli. The event ended with a hot chocolate at Schoggi - exposing a large group of people to multiple businesses around a theme.
Cities:
- The City of San Francisco is using Mobile Adventure Walks to motivate and encourage people in a 10-week health and fitness program called: Shape Up Walking Challenge. 10 Adventure Walks in San Francisco are branded with their logo, so the participants can easily spot them in the app.
Non-profits:
- ReAllocate, a non-profit whose focus is solving real-world challenges faced by humanitarian organizations is using Mobile Adventure Walks to raise awareness and money about a foot brace they developed to, non-invasively, cure club foot. They will be hosting walks throughout the United States with the mobile gaming app to grow their campaign.
- Boy Scouts of America is using Mobile Adventure Walks in conjunction with a patch program, SCOUTStrong.
Physician Clinics:
- The Physical Activity Pharmacy is using Mobile Adventure Walks to help promote walking with patients at a variety of clinics.
Founded in 2008, The Next Web is one of the world’s largest online publications that delivers an international perspective on the latest news about Internet technology, business and culture. With an active, influential audience consisting of more than 5.1 million monthly visits and over 7 million monthly page views, The Next Web continues to expand its global presence on its website with the addition of new channels and content partnerships, as well as through events in North America and Europe.
I wouldn't have associated an adventure walk with a stronger brand impression...
